A soldier's mind

I killed him because I had to kill, Without a moment to think I was ordered to shoot so I hit him before his eyes could blink... Without knowing why to kill? Whom to kill? I just need to follow The orders I get, and it's joy for my country and family for the reward i get.... Had i made a delay to pull the trigger I would have met his fate My family would have lost their son My lover would have sacrificed her love... They say am a national hero........ I am a soldier, I fight for my nation.... And they have given me the license to kill To take life, to end a family on the other side I have a joy and there is a sorrow on the other side.. He is beyond my border and I have to fire at him He waits for me with bombs and guns and before he gets ready I have to kill him. Had we met on a holiday at an exotic island resort Probably we could be good friends Probably we had a drink together We could have shared common jokes But now he is on my opposite side I don't know him but he is my enemy and my task is to eliminate him I have no choice but to take his life But within my heart I always say....... that this story of bloodshed in the name of patriotism must end......... If they are sinners we too are because we also killed as they killed us A war is fought and men are lost property on both sides are destroyed It is my job a soldier to protect and so i have to.. But to the people who order me there is an appeal from this little soldier Great men said "A pen is mightier than sword....." How if we give this war a little hold and be friends again with a treaty that is very bold............ Narrated by a forgotten soldier
